The big BMW coding list —
everything your car can actually do.

From F to G series. Which functions are genuinely present is decided by your head unit’s software level — I check that up front using model, year and I-step.

Tools we use

E-Sys · ISTA

Category 1

Comfort & locking

  • One-touch indicator.Three blink cycles instead of one on a light tap — calmer when changing lanes.
  • Mirror folding via remote key.Folds in when you lock, unfolds when you unlock.
  • Comfort opening for windows and sunroof.Hold the button — optionally also from the door handle with Comfort Access.
  • Tailgate via remote control.Open and close the powered tailgate without touching the car.
  • Mirror dips in reverse.Keeps the kerb in view when parking — saves your wheels.
  • Automatic locking above a chosen speed.Including comfort key ejection.

Category 2

Lighting

  • Coming home and leaving home.Light escorts you to and from the car, with a freely chosen run-on time.
  • Cornering light via the fog lamps.Better coverage in tight bends, provided adaptive light is fitted.
  • US-style indicators. The rear indicator also lights red — the familiar US look.
  • Brake force display.Third brake light or rear fog lamp reinforces hard braking.
  • Show the daytime running light menu in iDrive.Including adjustable welcome-light sequences.

Category 3

Displays & cockpit

  • Sport displays and M views.G-force, oil pressure, lap timer and the M start animation in the cluster.
  • Digital speed readout.Plus additional temperature and voltage values.
  • Seat heating level shown in iDrive.Instead of only the indicator lamps on the panel.
  • Adjust the seatbelt reminder.Reduce the chime without disabling the safety function.

Category 4

Multimedia & iDrive

  • Permanent Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.Including full screen where the head unit allows — no subscription.
  • Video while driving. For front and rear passengers, with a clear note on the legal position.
  • Personalise the start logo.M GmbH, MINI or BMW i — plus custom chimes instead of the factory sound.
  • Switch off Active Sound Design.Artificial engine sound off, where fitted.

Category 5

Driving dynamics & everyday

  • Activate launch control.Depending on engine and gearbox, plus adjusted sport shift points.
  • Remote start (option 1CR).Pre-heat or pre-cool engine and climate from the key.
  • Start-stop behaviour.Remembers your last setting instead of re-arming at every start.

Honesty over marketing: This list shows what is possible in principle. Whether a function exists on your specific car depends on its software level — I check that free of charge before you pay anything. Coding unlocks what is already built in; it cannot replace missing hardware.
